CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation is a life-saving technique used in emergencies to help restore breathing and circulation.  AHA authorized CPR and AED training centers give you the skills you need to recognize and respond to a person during an emergency that could save their life.

About CPR

Anyone can, and should, learn basic CPR – someday these skills could save a life.  Whether you are a medical professional, childcare provider, teacher, business member, community volunteer or parent, knowing how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation can give someone who’s heart has stopped or who isn’t breathing the best chance of survival.

If someone is not responsive and isn’t breathing, or isn’t breathing normally, a bystander should begin CPR and call for help, activating the emergency response system. Identifying a person, whether it be from a cardiac arrest, a traumatic injury, or drowning, who requires life-saving interventions, and rapidly deploying the emergency medical system, can save their life.

CPR is a combination of mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing and chest compressions, to restore blood flow to the heart, brain and other vital organs until advanced medical life support can be given.

An AED, or automated external defibrillator, is a key component to effective CPR.  The AED  is a portable device that analyzes the heart’s rhythm and determines if an electrical shock is needed to restore an effective rhythm.  If it is needed, the AED can deliver, either automatically or with a push of a button, an electrical shock to the heart which can re-start the heart, or shock the heart back into an organized rhythm.

There is clear evidence of improved survival from cardiac arrest when a bystander performs CPR and rapidly uses an AED.

Our Seattle CPR training will cover:

  • how to recognize situations requiring CPR and AED
  • mouth-to-mouth rescue breathing for adults, children and infants
  • high-quality chest compressions for adults, children and infants
  • rapid and accurate AED (automated external defibrillator) use
  • one person and two-person rescue
  • how to assess and treat choking victims

Our courses provide the most up-to-date AHA guidelines for CPR and emergency cardiovascular care.  All students who complete the CPR training, either in person or online, will receive a two-year certification card upon completion of the course.

CPR Certification for Healthcare Providers

Physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, medical assistants and other medical providers need to know basic life support and the skills needed for CPR.  Many employers, whether it be hospitals, medical clinics or trauma centers, require their health care providers to be certified in CPR and AED use.  Even most medical schools require their med students to be certified in AHA-approved CPR for professionals.

Our CPR for medical providers focuses on real-life scenarios, giving you the skills necessary to respond to critical situations for both adult and pediatric populations.  Our curriculum reinforces the importance of early CPR and defibrillation, the basic steps of performing CPR, how to relieve a choking victim, and using an AED; and the role of each link in the Chain of Survival. Our classes will focus on the most up to date AHA guidelines and are taught by expert trainers who’s goal is to give you the knowledge and skills needed for you to do your job.

Our highly trained instructors will take you through one person and two person rescues, basic EKG interpretation and AED use.  Our classes are designed to be supportive and to help you be comfortable with the lifesaving skills necessary.  Upon successful completion of the course, healthcare professionals will be given a certification card good for 2 years.

CPR Recertification for Healthcare Providers

Like our CPR certification classes for healthcare providers, our recertification classes are perfect for physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other medical providers needing up update their CPR certification.  Many medical providers also use the CPR recertification class to refresh their skills and gain additional hands-on experience, even if they don’t need to renew their certification.

Our trainings are lead by highly skilled instructors who will take you through, step by step, the CPR algorithm with AED use.

Designed for busy professionals, we offer a variety of options when it comes to completing your CPR recertification.  Our in-person trainings are offered in multiple locations at several times for your convenience.  Our online trainings allow you to start whenever you want and complete the course at your own pace.

Don’t Let Your CPR Certification Lapse

Every 2 years your CPR certification expires, which means that in order to stay certified, you need to take a CPR renewal course.  Many jobs require their employees to have a valid CPR certification.  If your certification lapses, you may risk loosing your job or being penalized.   But more importantly, it’s important to be prepared.  Knowing CPR and how to rescue someone in a life threatening situation is reason enough to keep your certification active.

CPR, for most of us, is not something that we use in our everyday life.  If we are not constantly using those skills, we will forget.  Taking a recertification course every 2 years refreshes that knowledge and the techniques needed to save a life.

The guidelines for CPR and AED use are constantly changing - yet another reason to keep your certification up to date.
